It’s 2026 and the world discuss how AI gonna improve our lives or destroy it completely. It’s 2026 and geopolitic events eat those worries during the breakfast. It’s 2026 and you might wake up understanding nothing about what’s happening.

I wrote this introduction and paused for a while. What to write next? We can’t deal with geopolitics. We can’t stop AI. I could teach you some things on AI, but will it matter in half a year? As usual I’m going to keep this one article more abstract. Things are changing and changing fast. How to manage those changes?

When I was still a kid my dad was sharing with me what he was learning back then. That was a solid MBA course. One of the terms he’s been focusing around back then was “a management of changes”. It sounded reasonable, but completely was lacking depth for me. Now I see how important it is. Whenever you hear someone’s being able to use new technologies, find themselves in new situation and use it for own advantage - they are doing management of change well.

While this term and approach comes from industrual environment, it can be ported to any workplace. But can it be applied to our life and help us to advance? I believe if process can’t be adapted it means it’s not a process, but a cult. Second guess would be - we aren’t smart enough or lack crucial technologies/understanding to fully understand the process. Otherwise - it is something we can learn from, adapt for our needs and repurpose.

To implement this process we must be careful with what we monitor. “When a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure”. We tend to break this rule over and over, setting external goals and running towards these.

What to change? Switching from chasing external goals and measure the input. The inner world. Am I comfortable? Do I get enough sleep? Food? Rest? Am I doing meaningful work? What meaningful means for me? Do I enjoy it? Am I doing it regularly? Am I doing enough?

When we measure our states, feelings and actions - we take control back. We can compare the results with the effort we spend. And make informed decisions. Is that the right direction? Changing where our attention goes will change how do we feel one day. And then, who knows, maybe some magic will happen overnight.
