Doing things despite not feeling doing it

Doing things despite not feeling doing it

Every path to any goal has a moment, when it’s not fun anymore. Following along the same path isn’t bringing any joy, nor other positive emotions. And it feels like goals is even further then moments ago, before the journey has even started.

I haven’t seen confirmations of my idea yet, but I have strong feeling endless scrolling is closely related to an ability of reaching goals. As each goal comes with a struggle. Our delusional mind can perceive the same effort differently and that depends on many circumstances. And goal is reached by the fact of doing things, no matter how we perceive them.

Modern bullshit

Sometimes truth is harsh. We’ve heard hundred of times ideas like “do what you like and you’ll never work”, “chase your dream” and similar. And there is nothing wrong with these approaches. Except one thing - these has been used to manipulate expectations. Do build a picture of bright future that just came, sit near us and stayed. While we’ve kept scrolling or chilling in front of TV.

The reality doesn’t look that way. It requires focused effort. Actions. Repetition. This is the only way to keep something from being digested by what I call “gravity of time”. Entropy. There are endless amount of variations and things, they can’t exist all at the same time. This is why we have time - it takes time to materialize any idea. And it fades away with time. A garbage collector.

There is still a truth behind that ideas. We can make through only when we have a calling. Any sort of it: curiousity, interest, wisdom, challenge. We can’t achieve anything if we’re indiferent. Not caring is the best way to let something pass fast. Therefore we must care about what we do. But it doesn’t save us from feeling challenge, weight, doubts doing it. That’s the bullshit.

Moreover - it is so easy to attach to a system at a single point and coping all the problems by endless entertainment. Myriads of screens are there to distract and persuade there is a different life. It’s way more easy to turn away from ourselves and own feeling and rot on the couch or chair.

Harsh reality

We’ve made it here to 21st century because ancestors were fighting, working, traveling. Despite the weather and circumstances. Despite of the labels used on them. Those who survived and reached their goals - those names are written in the history. Even entropy and time can’t erase those names and achievements.

What is the amount of energy needed to survive through the centuries? I think nobody can handle such amounts, it’s impossible to preserve and translate it in short time. But instead there are mechanism that allows to gather that energy outside. Groups, organizations of any sort. Multiple people are comiting their energy, and at point it start to accumulate and grow.

The trick is there is a point where leaders have to obey to the “entity”. And it can be heard from many owners and top managers who are legally owners of companies. At some point company rules are more important than anyones decision. Rule violation creates crisis. One of the well known stories are about the “A” company and a guy with a name Steve. Dumped by own company. I bet he had to learn some rules to get back and successfully run the company later.

How do we keep going?

These type of “success” stories might demotivate and discourage us from continuing our journey. It all depends from the angle we’re looking at it. As of today the most powerful way of looking at my decisions is also the simplest. Addresing “why?”. Why do I do this? Why don’t I do that? Then it expands to “what’s driving me now?”. “Is that fear?”. Don’t be fooled and double check immediately “Is that the type of fear I’m trying to hide behind rationale decision?”

And this can keep going long enough. What do I want? How do I get it? What I can control and what not? Right now it looks like endless game of self-discovery. Multiply by 7 billion. Multiply by million years. And this number is still too small and irrelevant to describe how huge universe is.

And yet we are - having around 80 years in total to figure out our goal, our path and stay committed long enough to reach it.
